Translator
We require our translators to have a recognized translation degree or certification or a minimum of three years' professional translation experience. Translators and aspiring translators with less experience are invited to apply for our apprenticeship program.
If you do not have a strong background in fine art or law, you will be asked to undergo a training program in one of these fields.
In your cover letter, please specify:
- your translation qualifications
- source language(s) and your native target language (if you are bilingual, please indicate your stronger target language).
- educational background, including the country in which you have studied at each level
- areas of particular expertise and your specific qualification in these areas
- professional and educational references
- willingness to complete a translation test
Subject Specialist
If you have a strong background in fine art or law and speak at least one foreign language, please submit your curriculum vitae and a brief cover letter summarizing your specific expertise and interests and any publications in your field.
If you are interested in receiving translation training, please mention this.
Editor
Editors should have at least three years of professional writing or editing experience. Please submit a writing sample and details of any published work which you have written or edited, along with your curriculum vitae and a cover letter specifying:
- your professional qualifications
- your native language (if you are bilingual, please indicate the language in which your writing skills are stronger).
- educational background, including the country in which you have studied at each level
- areas of particular expertise and your specific qualification in these areas
- professional and educational references
- willingness to complete a test of editorial skills
Trainee
If you are interested in translating but do not yet have the requisite skills or experience, we invite you to apply to our apprenticeship program. Please send your curriculum vitae to training@williamvictor.net. If your application passes the first level of screening, you will be asked to take an aptitude test.
