At William Victor, quality is about more than competence and expertise; it is about consistency -- getting it right every time. That's why we have invested more than a year in building a proprietary project management software, TranslationPoint, which ensures that project managers take every translation through a series of predefined quality steps and checkpoints. TranslationPoint also facilitates team coordination, allowing the project manager to monitor and organize the work of all team members through an online interface.
Every translation begins with an assessment step in which the project manager examines the specific project requirements. Based on this assessment, the project manager forms an expert team. For example, for the translation of an art consignment contract from German to U.S. English, the team might consist of a German lawyer, a U.S. translator with a background in art law, and a U.S. editor specializing in contract law. The final translation work will always be completed by native speakers of the target language (that is, the language into which the document is being translated).
The next stage in our project management is the team briefing and the formal kickoff to production. During the production stage, the project manager uses our TranslationPoint software to monitor progress, assess project status in real time, coordinate the team, and determine when the document is ready for the quality assurance stage. Before a translation can leave Quality Assurance, the project manager signs a quality pledge, personally vouching for the excellence of the result.
